Ficus Elastica Burgundy
Ficus elastica ‘Burgundy’
Commonly referred to as a Rubber Plant for the milky white latex of its sap, the Ficus Elastica is an eye-catching plant whose large, thick and glossy leaves are seen in numerous different colors. 'Burgundy', shown here, is known for its deep burgundy-tinged leaves. Other popular cultivars include 'Robusta' with its brighter green leaves, 'Decora' with its deep green leaves, 'Tineke' with its ivory-edged leaves and pinks stems, and 'Tricolor' with a stunning mix of green, cream, and pink on its leaves.
These plants prefer to moderate to high indirect light and more colorful varieties may lose their variegation in lower light conditions. In smaller sizes they can be used on a desktop, combined in a bowl with flowers, or used in a green wall while larger sizes work well as floor plants or planted together in a large container. All ficus require regular care and should only be placed in easily accessable areas.
